The National Association of Danish Folk Dancers
 
 

The object of The National Association of Danish Folk Dancers is to seek to preserve and to put into use Danish folk dancing, folk music, national costumes, and the underlying traditions. 

The Association aims to achieve its goal by holding rallies and offering courses, by training instructors and leaders, by offering support for research and publishing initiatives and through Nordic and international cooperation

In its endeavour to preserve folk dancing to live music, the Association works in close cooperation with The Association of Danish Folk Musicians (www.spillemandskredsen.dk)

The Association, which is an associated member of the Danish Sports Dancers' Association und the Danish Sports Federation, organizes 219 local clubs with a total of 12,678 members.

Subscription for members of local clubs amounts to DKK 95, subscription for individual members DKK 190

The address of the Association is found below. Individual memberships are obtained through direct application to the office of the Association.

Together with The Association of Danish Folk Musicians a national rally with about 1,500 participants is held every year in July; in 2008 Nyborg on the island Funen hosted the rally from the 14th to the 19th July. 

The next Danish Championship in Folk Dancing is held 16th May 2009 in Odense.

Together with The Association of Danish Folk Musicians, the Association publishes a members' magazine “Trin & Toner” with 10 issues a year.
